UCSC Extension offers the Technology in Schools, Introduction (SB 2042 Standard 11), an online course for clearing the preliminary credential required for SB 2042 Multiple Subject and Single Subject. This course complies with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) standards.
Learning outcomes
- Computer-based Tech: Use computer-based technology appropriately to facilitate the teaching and learning process in a school setting. (TPEs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6)
- Tech Expertise: Gain technology competence as defined in "Standards 1:4, 3:6, 4:4, 4:8, 5:4 and 6:6 -- California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) 2018.
- Digital Tools: Demonstrate knowledge of current basic computer hardware, software and terminology, and the use of digital tools and learning technologies across learning environments. (TPE 4:4 & 6:6)
- Tech in Curriculum: Select and evaluate a wide array of technologies for effective use in relation to an established curriculum. (TPEs 3:6, 3:7, 4:4 & 5:4)
- Tech for Data, Analysis & Management: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of computer-based technology for information collection, analysis, and management in the instructional setting. (TPEs: 3:6, 3:7, 4:4, 5:4 & 6:6)
- Legal and Ethical Issues: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of some of the legal and ethical issues concerned with the use of technology. (TPE 3:7 & 6:6)
