RICHARD C. DAYTON, J.D., is an estate planning attorney with his own firm and a founding member of the WealthCounsel National Study Group. He earned his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law, became a certified specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in 2004, is licensed to practice law in California, and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for Northern District of California. He is also a member of the probate and trusts sections of the California and American Bar associations and National Association of Retirement and Wealth Preservation Advisors. Richard is also a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army Reserve and previously worked as a senior software engineering manager for IBM. He has taught at UCSC Extension since 2006.
