Choose from a range of mentorship opportunities

The UC Santa Cruz Postbacc Program offers a variety of mentorship opportunities to support student professional development. We place students in mentorships based on availability, with priority given to those enrolled in a cohort program.

If you are an enrolled student in our program and are interested in mentorship opportunities, please email postbacc@ucsc.edu for further assistance.

Kaiser REPRESENT Program

Students in the UCSC Postbacc program have the opportunity to participate in the REPRESENT program, which includes networking with physicians at regional recruitment events, engaging in Doctor Chats, and attending college seminars taught by Permanente Medicine physicians. Additionally, they can volunteer at health education events, shadow physicians, and participate in research internships with physician mentors. This program serves students in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Monterey counties.

Kaiser Job Shadowing

Students have the opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals at various PERMANENTE Medical Group sites in Northern California, including San Jose, Gilroy, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and Scotts Valley. This experience allows students to observe different specialties and gain valuable insights into the healthcare field.

MiMentor

Students may participate in MiMentor, a national mentoring organization that connects mentees with mentors in healthcare. MiMentor provides access to resources, events, and networking opportunities to help students achieve their academic and professional goals.

Natividad Family Medicine Center

Students will have a year-long opportunity to gain both clinical exposure and research experience at Natividad Family Medicine Center in Salinas, CA. They will have the chance to work closely with residents, contributing to research initiatives and small quality improvement projects.
