The Coastal Sustainability and Resilience series aims to increase the number of practitioners in coastal communities who are knowledgeable and prepared to integrate a range of sustainability solutions, including nature-based solutions, in coastal adaptation, sustainability, and resilience projects.

Join us for this online info session to learn more about our first course in the series—Coastal Climate Resilience—where students will draw on UC Santa Cruz's expertise in the application of nature-based solutions, local adaptation planning, and innovations. Participants in the course will learn from experts in the academic, public, and private sectors.

Agenda

In addition to learning about the unique teaching methods in this hands-on hybrid course, we'll answer questions you may have about projects that will be highlighted and the course topics such as:

  • Climate risks and hazards in coastal zones
  • Adaptation and resilience strategies that address climate impacts in coastal regions
  • Designing effective nature-based solutions
  • Principles of engaging parties respectfully in climate justice
  • Policies relevant to nature-based solutions at national, regional, and state levels
  • Funding sources for resilience projects
  • Innovative financing and the insurance landscape for resilience projects
