Program Updates | Winter 2025

More flexibility for the Project and Program Management student!

As part of our ongoing effort to align our curricula with industry demand and better serve you, we've updated the Project and Program Management program in a few key ways.

AI-focused content

Several courses now incorporate the use of AI so you are prepared for the growing demand for professionals who with AI knowledge and its application in the project management field.

No change in credit totals

There is no change in the overall number of credits you need to earn for a certificate.

New program requirements

Students must successfully complete (in any order) the following three core courses before enrolling in the capstone course.

  • Project Management Fundamentals (PPMT.X425)
  • Agile Project Management Fundamentals (PPMT.X426)
  • Project Leadership and Communication (PPMT.X415)

Plus

  • Applied Project Management | Capstone Course (PPMT.X417)

Program Overview

Required: A total of 7 courses (minimum 15 quarter units).
Former requirement: No change

  • 4 required courses (10.5 quarter units).
    Former requirement: No change

  • 2-3 elective courses (minimum 4.5 quarter units).
    Former requirement: No change

  • End with the certificate review.

Other Program Changes

  • Role of the Project Manager | PPMT.X400 has been retired and replaced with a new required course, Project Management Fundamentals | PPMT.X425 .
  • Project Integration and Risk Management | PPMT.X406 (3.0 units) has been revised and become an elective course, named Project Risk Management | PPMT.X406 (1.5 quarter units)
  • Agile Project Management Fundamentals | PPMT.X426 (1.5 quarter units) is a new required course.

These courses have stayed the same.

  • Project Leadership and Communication | PPMT.X415 (3.0 quarter units)
  • Applied Project Management | PPMT.X417(3.0 quarter units)

These changes will not affect the total core units, which will remain at 10.5 units.

The elective unit requirement remains the same, with two to three courses or a minimum of 4.5 quarter units.

Declared Candidacy before Feb. 28, 2025?

Students who declared candidacy before Feb. 28, 2025, may follow the current requirements above or the former requirements that were in place when they declared. It's up to you!

If you have completed any of the discontinued required / elective courses in the past 4 years, you may still use them to fulfil the current elective requirement for the PPM Certificate Program.

  • Foundations of Disciplined Agile for Project Managers | PPMT.X424 (1.5 units)
  • Lean-Agile Project Management: Achieving Business Value | PPMT.X407 (1.5 units)
  • Managing Projects at Startup Companies | PPMT.X401 (1.5 units)
  • Managing Projects with Microsoft Project | PPMT.X416 (1.5 units)
  • Managing Software Projects | SEQA.X406 (1.5 units)
  • Managing the Development of New Products | PPMT.X412 (1.5 units)
  • Outsourcing and Contract Management | PPMT.X414 (1.5 units)
  • Practical Emotional Intelligence for Agile and Project Leaders | PPMT.X423 (1.5 units)
  • Project Integration and Risk Management | PPMT.X406 (3 units)
  • Project Scheduling Essentials | PPMT.X416 (1.5 units)
  • Role of the Project Manager | PPMT.X400 (1.5 units)
    May be substituted for Project Management Fundamentals | PPMT.X425 if the minimum 15-quarter-unit total is met.
  • Schedule Optimization Techniques for Managers | PPMT.X413 (1.5 units)
