Join the UC Santa Cruz Career Success Center and UCSC Silicon Valley Extension for an interactive event on entrepreneurship, featuring a hands-on workshop, expert panel discussion, and networking opportunities. Gain insights from successful entrepreneurs, and connect with like-minded professionals to kickstart your entrepreneurial journey.

 

3 p.m. | Develop a business plan and structure

3-4:15 p.m—Business development experts from the SBDC and SCORE will provide aspiring entrepreneurs with foundational knowledge to develop a strong business plan. Attendees will learn key elements of business operations, budgeting, revenue projection, and choosing the right business structure.  Topics include: 

  • Business plan basics
  • Operational plan basics
  • Financials: budgeting, cost estimates, and revenue projection
  • Business structures and how to identify the best fit for your business
  • Drafting your business’s value proposition, target market, and basic cost estimates

 

4:30 pm | Hear from UC alumni entrepreneurs

4:30 - 5:45 p.m.—During the Founders Panel you'll hear from UC alum who are now successful entrepreneurs. They’ll share how they launched their own businesses, the real-world challenges they faced, and their valuable insights on overcoming obstacles and navigating the complex fundraising landscape. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical advice and inspiration from those who’ve been in your shoes.


Our panel will uncover the following:

  • Real stories of entrepreneurial challenges and breakthroughs
  • Fundraising tips, from pitching to securing investors
  • Lessons learned and advice for aspiring entrepreneurs

 

6 pm | Networking reception

6 - 7 p.m—Take some time to meet the participants and panelists.
